Fire and mildew resistant
MIL-C-10799 vinyl-coated cotton and duck
Fire- and mildew-resistant vinyl-coated cotton cloth and Army duck for tarpaulins and covers.
MIL-C-10799 covers vinyl-coated cotton cloth (Type I) and coated Army duck (Type II), both fire and mildew resistant. The coating has to be virgin vinyl chloride polymer or copolymer, and the spec rules out calendering a preformed film. The coating has to go on as a true coating, which is exactly how our lines work.
Mildew protection goes either in the coating or in a treated base cloth, and the spec bans mercury compounds and water-soluble ingredients.
